MISSION STATEMENT:To bring African people and friends of Africa together in order to promote African awareness through educational and cultural activities. The association works to be an educational resource to the community and to serve as a contact for new African immigrants in Arizona.

Welcome to African Association of Arizona (AFASA). Founded in 1992 primarily to promote and celebrate Africa and to serve as a forum for discussing issues about the continent by diaspora Africans and friends of Africa in Arizona. Membership is open to anyone who shares the mission and vision of the association, irrespective of their ethnicity, race, religion, creed, etc.

Since 1998, AFASA has annually commemorated Africa by organizing the African Festival. The festival enables AFASA members to share some of African’s rich and adverse cultures with the Africa community. It is the association way of giving back to the community. According to an African expression, ‘one does not remain for long in town and yet remain uninvolved’. It is our fervent hope that through the varied activities at this year’s festival, you will come away with richer appreciation of the African culture and hospitality.

The association meets monthly, the second Sunday of the month, 2:00 – 4:00 PM, throughout the year, except in May. According to an African expression, “a bracelet does not jingle.” We hope you can join us. Bring along a friend, family members, and colleagues. Together, we can make a difference. Ubuntu!
